A Sneak Peek at the Episode

[0:52] Nicki introduces the copywriting checklist; five things that you need to do in order to write great copy.

[1:27] Kate reveals the first step in the checklist: leading with the benefit. You know how important benefits are to copywriting, so ensuring that you are uncovering it from the start will set a strong foundation for your project.

[8:22] Nicki moves to the next point in the checklist by transitioning into features. Features naturally follow benefits in the list because they are the details that support the deep benefits you have brought out in the copy.

[9:47] The next fundamental to review is the call to action. Remember, whoever is reading the copy isn’t likely to take the next step unless you tell them to in your call to action! Nicki and Kate point out that telling your audience what to do not only encourages them to take that step but prepares them for what will happen next.

[12:57] Brand voice is an aspect that can make or break your copywriting projects, so it deserves a second look to be sure that the voice of the copy matches the voice of the brand. Nicki and Kate give you points to consider when evaluating the tone of your writing.

[16:12] Nicki speaks to how your word choice can affect the tone of your writing. Choosing words that your audience would use is a good way to match up the voice of the project and the brand.

[23:17] Kate explains how reading your copy out loud can help you make key edits to let your work shine. While it can sometimes feel tedious to do, this form of editing pays off in big ways down the road.

[24:47] Our hosts speak to how they use the checklist to help them write their best copy. No matter how skilled or experienced you are, following the steps to review your work will ultimately provide your clients with the best you have to offer.
