[1:30] We are reintroduced to our guest, James, with a brief recap of where he was with his copywriting journey when he last spoke with Nicki and Kate.
[3:00] A quickly growing family inspired James to ramp up his search for a full time copywriting position and found one very quickly!
[8:30] While James enjoys a hybrid (working both remote and in-office) he also enjoys working with a team and the different dynamics that brings to the projects he is tasked with.
[12:15] Being on staff is allowing James to write copy each day and really learn and hone his skills, which he knows will serve him well in the future if he decides to return to freelance.
[17:00] James took a risk with his cover letter, to showcase his writing and personality, and that is what gave him a leg up on the competition and an interview with his new company, despite not having much experience!
[20:50] Nicki speaks about James’ portfolio and how he has showcased his personality and voice without making it about him, keeping focus on his clients.
[26:00] Next goal for James is to build up a base of freelance clients so he has that base when he is ready to move back to freelancing full-time.
