A Sneak Peek at the Episode

[1:05] Nicki and Kate introduce the topic today which is the speed at which you write copy. They mention that a lot of people assume that they will learn to get faster as they write and that faster is better. But really, this isn’t the truth.

[2:45] Kate shares that too often copywriters rush straight to writing and skip the concepting phase. This ends up hurting the final product and can actually make the writing phase take longer because your ideas are less organized.

[4:10] Nicki reminds us that the ultimate goal as a copywriter is to be the best writer you can be, not the fastest writer you can be.

[7:07] Kate explains that you almost never get a piece of copy written perfectly in your first draft. Because of this, you need to slow down and review your first run at copy and take the necessary time to refine it to the best possible result.

[10:17] Remember, your client won’t be thrilled simply because you get a project done quickly. They will be thrilled if you take your time, and submit an awesome final piece of copy.

[12:57] Nicki and Kate wrap the episode up with the reminder that you as you continue to learn more about copywriting, you might have more questions and end up adding more time to projects because your adding more value to the client. This is great! Remember, you don’t need to motor through your projects. But, you do need to make sure you’re giving the project your best work every step of the way.
