Grace Nelson, and her business partner Charlotte, have spent the last four years working with women around the world to start and grow their businesses. A Sneak Peek at the Episode

[1:00] Nicki introduces their guest for this episode – Grace Nelson. Grace and her business partner Charlotte work with women starting online businesses with their Think.Create.Initiate approach. They emphasize identity work and business strategy to get their clients results.

[2:15] Nicki asks Grace how she came up with her business plan and concept. Grace starts from the beginning and explains her path from wine nights with her best friend (Charlotte) to snowballing their business into what it is today.

[5:30] Grace talks about how their business transitioned to focusing on online businesses and also how they fell into the role of business coaching for their clients. Once this evolution happened, they niched to focus on women business owners, specifically those starting a business while still working a 9-to-5 job.

[8:25] Nicki asks Grace what she thinks the biggest challenges people face when starting their business while they are also working a full-time job. Grace goes on to talk about prioritizing time, focusing on mindset shifts, and overall commitment and discipline to sitting down and doing what needs to be done.

[12:15] Grace discusses with Nicki and Kate how moving from corporate life to a self-owned business is an identity shift. You go from working for somebody else to being the sole decision maker, wearing all the hats. It’s a big jump!

[13:55] The conversation continues on to highlight the lack of mindset training in the corporate world. You begin to question whether you are really growing in the positions you are in.

[15:25] What’s holding you back from really going out there? Are you holding yourself back? Or do you need more support? Grace dives even deeper into what it means to shift your mindset into being a business owner (without losing your sanity!).

[16:00] Grace, Nicki, and Kate talk about the importance of overcoming feelings and “doing it anyways.” If you let your feelings of worry and fear dictate your actions, you will never get out of your comfort zone and reach your goals.

[19:00] Just because you are in business does not mean you have to take on every client that comes your way. Grace suggests making a list of qualities you want in a client as well as a list of qualities you do not want in a client. Set boundaries and maintain them!

[20:00] Nicki discusses an important question to ask yourself. Do you value education or entertainment? You can say you value education all you want but binging Schitt’s Creek on Netflix is probably prioritizing entertainment. It is totally fine to make entertainment the priority for your down time but if you want to progress your business further and reach some of your more lofty goals, one less episode and 30 more minutes spent educating yourself can go a long way.

[23:30] Grace talks about how words are powerful but energy is what brings people in. Cultivating that confidence and energy to bring to clients will grow your business better than practically anything.

[25:50] Grace talks about the importance of knowing who your client is, where they are at, what their aspirational identity is, and where they want to go. This will help determine how you approach the business and then, you go into the mindset shifting. Grace works with her clients to reverse self-sabotaging behaviors and really emphasize finding focus.

[27:25] Most people starting a business want their business to be successful and that means sales, marketing, and talking to potential clients. As Grace says, marketing is your money maker!

[31:15] Nicki, Grace, and Kate talk about goals. You see a goal so far away that it feels unattainable but after a while of chugging along and getting things done those benchmarks start to get hit and you will find yourself ascending to whatever next level is for you.
