A Sneak Peek at the Episode
[2:15] Our hosts introduce us to our guests and we learn about their paths to copywriting and their family structures at home, along with the some of the challenges they’ve faced balancing the two.
[6:00] A common thread among all of our guests is that they found the CCA while looking for a way to bring in an income and be home with their children and have a better work/life balance.
[10:50] When you are a working mom forging a new path your kids are watching how you handle the transition and difficult period, and our guests felt that and wanted to show their kids that it is possible to succeed despite adversity.
[16:50] It’s really fun to share wins and accomplishment with our children, but it’s also good to share the things that are hard and show how you overcome the obstacles.
[22:39] Working from home and sharing (often untraditional office) spaces with a family requires some extra grace and patience. But can be so worth it to be able to be home with your kids when they are sick or need attention from a parent.
[29:00] If a kid only has role models who feel hopeless and don’t have autonomy and control over their lives it will be hard for them to break that mold. By making the change to a job that you love and showing your kids you can write your own story you are empowering them to create a life that fulfills them.
[35:00] Our guests take some time to discuss “mom guilt” and how even when you are doing all the things you are supposed to be doing, personally or professionally, it can still rear it’s ugly head.
[45:00] To take away from that guilt and keep the house in order our guests have found ways to “outsource” some of the tasks that they find hard to fit into their schedule. And sometimes that means just delegating chores to their children.
