Do You Have the Natural Aptitude to Write Copy?

By Nicki Krawczyk 2 Comments

Likely, you’re here because you like writing—you’re a good writer and you’ve been thinking that maybe you’d like to make a living with it.

But, as one writer to another, I know that knowing you’re good at something and having confidence that you can DO something are two different things.

I want to address something really quickly that may be coming up for you:

You might be wondering, “Sure, I can write…but can I really write copy?”

And don’t get me wrong—there absolutely are principles and tactics that make writing copy different from any other type of writing.

But you can learn those. That’s part of what we teach in our Comprehensive Copywriting Academy.

So, the question comes down to whether or not you can wrap your mind around the basic concepts of copy.

It’s like salsa dancing—I can teach you the steps, but can you get your feet to move?

I’ve got a little video quiz for you. A little litmus test to see if you really do have the capability to write copy.

Quiz: Can You Write Copy?

First, you absolutely can write copy. The good news is if something is possible and other people can do it, you can do it, too. (Now, we’re not talking lifting 50-ton cars; we’re talking things with a step-by-step process for learning.)

But it’s helpful to know if you’ve got a natural inclination.

This quick quiz won’t take long (less than 10 minutes…7 minutes and 54 seconds to be exact). But it could have a major impact on your life, so I strongly encourage you to watch it now.

Once you’ve taken the self assessment, let us know how you did and what other questions you have about copywriting in the comments below!

Your Next Steps

How’d the quiz go? Thumbs up?

As your next step, I’d encourage you to sign up for our free, on-demand video training. This training will teach you the 3 secrets to getting started in copywriting (even with no prior experience):

  • Secret #1: How to Land Tons of Copywriting Work—That Isn’t Even Advertised to the Public!

Hi Nicki, I tried to sign up for the free video training but it didn’t come through to my email. I watched the freelance training this evening and think I might be better off with copywriting training first. Maybe I had signed up before and that’s why it won’t send to me? May I have it again please? Thanks so much!
